Since ancient times, there have always been those who yearn for returning to the comfortable life in the countryside. Returning to the pure nature can bring inner peace and ordinary beauty.
位于峨眉山景区西部的高桥村，距离市区40分钟车程，村民世代耕作，得以独厚的山泉水资源和肥沃土地，村落以稻禾闻名一方。城市的外扩和旅游业发展，为平静的乡村注入活力，带着对自然美学的崇敬，一座座稻田里的房子开始营造。
Gaoqiao village located in the west of Mount Emei Scenic Area is 40 minutes’ drive to the urban area. Villagers here cultivated farmlands for generations. Owing to unique spring water and fertile land resources, the village is famous for rice and grass. With the expansion of the city and the development of tourism, it breathes life into the peaceful village. Houses have sprung up all over the rice fields with respect for natural aesthetics.
依顺着地形与山路，超级平常营造了一段跨季节的旅程。三栋建筑悄然隐落其中，被绿野环抱，与村落、稻田、山泉如此贴近，它们是山脚下的“旅居中心”，田园中的“田间食堂”，梯田上的“咖啡小馆”。三个空间各具不同的功能，却有着相通的精神内核。都是关于生活的分享、自然美的觉知以及幸福的传递。
Along the terrain and mountain roads, a cross-season journey has created. Three buildings are scattered in the green fields silently, closing to villages, rice fields, and mountain springs. They are the “residence center” at the foot of the mountain, “field canteen” in the countryside, as well as the “coffee house” on the terraces. Despite different functions, the three buildings have the same spiritual core. That is, sharing life, perceiving nature, and delivering happiness.

旅居中心犹如“乡村客厅”一般，接纳到访的远客，空间中使用的材质与家具呈现出的色调取自大地，质朴，无华。忽然间，都市人那颗皱巴巴的心被这里舒缓的氛围抚平，拂去旅途的风尘，心情舒展开。旅程从这里开始。
The residence center is like a “rural hall”, receiving guests from afar. The materials and furniture adopt earth tones, simple and unadorned. The dull mood of urban tourists is swept away suddenly. After eliminating travel fatigues, they are happy and relaxed. The journey begins here.
回归田园
Return to rural life
沿着小道向西北方向步行，十余分钟，葡萄地映入眼帘后便离“田间食堂”不远了。乡间小道飘落的细雨，使稻田油绿，屋瓦澈亮，沁人心脾。我们路过了鱼塘、木桥、梯田、果林和一座座朴拙的小屋，田间食堂就在前方那层层稻田中。
Walking along the path to the Northwest for more than 10 minutes, a vineyard comes into view. It is not far from the “field canteen”. The drizzle on the country road creates a refreshing scene of green rice fields and bright roof tiles. After passing the fish pond, wooden bridge, terraces, fruit forest, and simple huts, the field canteen is in the rice fields ahead.
食堂在一处居民地基上营造，极短的施工周期和需达到“整旧如旧”的效果，给超级平常带来挑战，空间材料的选择与当地木工工艺成为空间营造的切入点。
The canteen is built on a foundation. The extremely short construction period and design concept of “regenerating former appearance” pose challenges to the team. Selecting building materials and local woodworking technology has become the breakthrough point of space construction.
抵达时，晨雾已散去，被稻田、茶园与山环抱着的房屋青瓦白墙澈底澄清，小道边的稻田，使脚步愈轻，一切都那么平凡静谧，没有过多言语，闻着稻香、茶香，听着风穿过林野的声音，虫鸣，这里仿佛是都市人平常生活的一道时空缝隙，繁忙随雾散去，心完全打开。
By the time of arrival, the early morning mist has cleared and the green tiles and white walls surrounded by rice fields, tea garden, mountains come into sight bit by bit. The rice field beside the path makes the footsteps lighter. Everything is peaceful and quiet, staying away from noisy environment. With the fragrance of flowers and tea, the whistling sounds of wind blowing through groves, and the cry of insects, it seems to be in the gap of time and space away from ordinary life. Toil goes with the mist, and the heart is completely opened.
整座房屋，从外墙到室内的一桌一椅，并没有过多的表情，新旧材料、家具完完全全“湮没”于整体之中，通过窗，与田野自然景观完全连接，制作花艺的枝叶、花材，取自一路而来的田野路边，细细品味，简单却又强烈。
The whole building, from the outer wall to the tables and chairs indoor, are plain without any emotion. The old and new materials and furniture completely are fallen into “oblivion” in the overall layout and fully connected with the natural landscape of the field through the window. Branches, leaves, and flowers for making flower arrangement are picked from the roadside of the field all the way. On closer scrutiny, it is simple and strong visual impact.
午后，在室内阅读、品茶、闲聊，而心思仿佛是在稻田、林地之间自在漫步。
Reading, tea tasting, and chatting indoors in the afternoon, it feels like roaming in the fields and woodlands.
“新旧结合”以及“适地工法”的理念运用于空间设计与材料选择中，项目前期的走访，我们关注到当地有很多正在翻新或拆除的民房，老房材料多为木制，跟随着这些木头来到木材市场，可能要被作为柴木的旧木被“拯救”了回来。
The concepts of "combination of new and old" and "right place construction" are applied to space design and material selection. During the visits in the early stage of the project, Super Normal noticed that many local houses under renovation or demolition were originally made of wooden materials. After chasing the source, many old timbers that will be used as firewood have been "saved" in the wood market.
时间和使用痕迹让这些旧木显得湿润朴实，经过简单的打磨、抛光后，或作为板材运用于空间中，或作为家具制作材料，而与当地木工匠的沟通则需通过手稿与现场“比划”才能有效。日常的设计图纸已不起作用，在夹杂方言的沟通与直接画在木板上粗犷的“图纸”过后，家具完全按照内心所想的造型、质感呈现。
Time and use traces make these old woods wetter and simpler. After simple grinding and polishing, they are made into plates or furniture in the building. Only through manuscripts or on-site "gestures" can we effectively communicate with local carpenters. Daily design drawings have played hardly any roles. After the communication mixed with dialect and the rough "drawings" drawn directly on the board, the furniture is completely presented consisting with the shape and texture of inner imagination.

II. Winter visit

Mountain fog & stony brook
再次到访时，已是冬季。稻谷已收获，稻杆晒干后，铺至田野上，在归还于农田之后，转化为机质和养分，土地与作物的能量随着季节，相互转换，带来不同的田野风光。
It’s winter when I visit again. The grains have been harvested. After drying, the straws lay over the fields. Exposing to the sun and rain, they are transformed into organic matter and nutrients. As the seasons change, the energy of land and crops is converted, producing different variations of field scenes.
冬季总是山雾缭绕，日出时间比夏季晚了许多。到达时，天微微刚亮，而村民已开始劳作。
The village is always shrouded in mountain fog in winter. The sun rises much later than summer. When I arrived, villagers had already started working with a slightly light.
“咖啡小馆”的基地处于一处坡地，且散布着大大小小的石块，整体建筑顺应地形和自然，在选定位置架空抬高，山溪水穿流底部而过，古樟树与落成的房屋相互守望，原本的地形、植被，耕地石头被悉数保留，没有改变。
The "coffee house" is located on a slope, surrounded by large and small stones. The overall architectural layout conforms to the natural topography. The selected position is built on stilts with a stream flowing through the bottom. The ancient camphor trees and the houses echo each other. The original terrain, vegetation, cultivated land, and stones are preserved without change.
除了咖啡馆，这里也是一处观景台。朝西可观赏峨眉峰，朝东面可将整片田野尽收眼底。周边景观已如此美，设计应是简朴的，空间中使用的材料与食堂一致，回收旧木，素夯土墙面、天花竹编材料。除了所需的后勤空间，外墙被完全打开，没有界限。
Along with the coffee house, there is an observation platform. Looking into the distance, Emei peak is in the West and the whole field is in the East. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, the architectural design is simple and plain. The materials are selected from recycled old wood, plain wall panels and bamboo plaited articles, which are exactly the same as that of the canteen. Besides a necessary logistics space, the building adopts open exterior walls without boundary setting.
建筑被架高，进而地面成为室内空间的“第五立面”。下沉沙发区的地面也是通透的，与打开的外墙一样，玻璃地面之下，溪水缓缓流过。中午时分，山雾依旧，周围成白茫一片。诚心地等待，雾却没有半分散去的感觉，天色慢慢暗下来。
The building is elevated, and the ground becomes the "Fifth Elevation" of indoor space. The floor of the sunken sofa area is made of glass like the outer wall, and the stream flows slowly below it. Around midday, the fog lingers in the mountains. A vast expanse of whiteness stretches to infinity. Waiting sincerely, there are no indications that the fog will disperse, and the sky darkened slowly.
本是怀着观景的期待而来，因为山雾，反而在室内度过了一天，却看到了特别的“雾景”，傍晚天气渐冷，点燃屋中炉火，望着火苗，可以发呆许久，任田时光虚度。
I came here with an expectation of viewing the scenery, but I had to stay indoors all day for the mountain fog. Because of this, some special "fog scenes" came into sight. It was getting colder in the evening. Lighting the fire in the house and staring at the fire in a daze, the time passed slowly.
回归本真的自然环境能够让内心沉静下来，感受平常的美好。而平常的真意，也许就藏在看似简单的生活之中。
Returning to the pure nature can bring inner peace and ordinary beauty. Perhaps, the genuine meaning of ordinary is implicated in the seemingly simple life.
